Edwardian fashion is what I’m loving now
Sarah jean is in the spirit of only wearing clothes that are from another era, eccentric and have an owned quality to them. I love it when people just commit to a time period that works inherently with their looks and makes them seem as though they carry a recontextualized version of that era with them wherever they go. In this case edwardian looks inherently modern, breezy and is making me crave vintage Guinne sax eyelet dresses and a mass of curly hair to match. Throw in a neon lip to throw off the look.
- November 15th, 2011STREETSTYLE- COOL GIRLS ON THE PROWL
We only know her as the “couture for sure” girl. She pulls off the perfect modern spin on a neo 90’s mixed with 2011 aesthetic. It’s not quite literal which I love, but throws in a couple of random twists like the garter tights trend we predicted here a year ago. It’s quite empowering to see young women wearing these stockings while attending to their day to day duties.
The thing which gets her whole look together is the strong beauty aesthetic. See sunny day beauty tomorrow for more on that..
Madeleine is a singer with a talent for layering and without any bulk. Notice all the different textures she mixes: Mongolian lamb fur, leather, and leopard print cowhair. We love the below the knee full shaped tweed circle skirt for the winter, against these tougher textures to keep the skirt from looking too granny. You got to have a pretty good eye to throw in the ankle socks over the tights, and still look elongated.

- January 13th, 2011HOT PICS- A FEW OF THOSE WITH BADASS STYLE, REALLY.
This very Prada inspired look works perfectly on the street, Bree pictured here looks like a cooler version of their s/s 2007 look. It’s the combination of all the different colors and prints that is key to why this works. There is something about turbans that makes everyone look super exotic, chic-y, and fashiony if you know what I mean. Its like, throw on a turban with a white t shirt and jeans, and you know this bitch is somehow involved in the fashion industry. Or maybe she is one of the Traina sisters.
Hayley pictured above is like a lot of those I see around in the East Village and feel are somehow kindred spirits. It’s not necessarily super original, but more like a visual representation of why art school girls rule. I’m loving the wacky print on the crop top, and the proportions pretty much sum up where fashion is at right now. Her version is way more interesting, than all those boring “Safari” themes you always see pop up in fashion magazines every other spring since 1965. That and “Nautical” themes. You know exactly what I’m talking about, lets not be politically correct here.
Nana Boateng is a menswear designer that is not exactly shy, which is why I decided to add a dude for once. This is not the style I normally gravitate towards, but he’s giving it. The fit is impeccable, and he pulls it off proudly and effortlessly in a very straight way, which is what is surprising for a guy in a hot pink suit. What’s with ultra straight men and their fear of color? Unless you are from Italy, Latin America, an entertainer, or listen to electro, men won’t wear bright colors. It’s 2010 guys, really.
I think this girl and I should be style friends and swap jackets. I’ll give her my Jeremy Scott phone print motorcycle from 2007 for her mickey mouse, like now. I mean right this second. Are you guys sick of stuff with Mickey on it yet? It’s been over 8 years for me and I’m still not over it.

- August 11th, 2010Hot as a pistol style blogger Lala NYC in Haleh
You got to give mega talented stylist, blogger, and social media enthusiast Lala Lopez credit for pulling together this look in 100 degree weather. Fashion is not always about total comfort people, yes it’s important to be able to walk in your heels and not be pulling on our strapless top. However, take a cue from my personal hero, grand dame Vivienne Westwood in this quote ” You always have a better life, if you wear impressive clothes” . Always make the effort, even if you are ready to pass out. Major style note on layering slips and crinolines under mini dresses, she also manages to effortlessly pull together a deep burgandy lip, in the summer which we love here at Haleh.tv.
Stay tuned for future Lala NYC/Haleh.tv collaborations that are in the works, for now check out her too cool for school take on fashion at www.lalanyc.com.
- July 7th, 2010HOT PICS STREETSTYLE UPDATE: Flower Power Fashion
This is one fashion savvy female decked to the nines in a dress that most would only dream of wearing for a day wedding, a garden party, or your very own bridal shower. What else would you expect from a fashion editor of the New York Post than to give you a real style twist on a too feminine frock. Wearing the gown with grecian flats for an evening stroll on second avenue, check. High end designer obscure label from Thailand, check. Name plate necklace to toughen up the sweetness, spare make up and a clean ponytail. You get the idea. This will be a true clear trend for Spring/Summer 2011, and you heard it hear on Haleh.tv first. The concept, taking very airy, light, highly saturated floral girly fashion and making it wearable for those that are empowered by handling a feminine concept, and flipping it’s very nature to a street statement.
This sort of reminds me mid 90’s Hole era Courtney love, minus the smeared red lipstick, and lopsided tiara, too good to be true.
- June 19th, 2010Eyepopping…
The Eyeball print is genius, and made by clothing label Mischka whom she has modeled for. I also loved that she had a pin up vibe, but doesn’t have that typical Rockabilly 1940’s look , diamond in the tooth case in point. You can’t see it in the pic but know what it’s about. I want one of those bad.
- August 4th, 2009Girl Crush Update…

Pretty Badass
This girl is one of those that you just had to see in person to get. It was more about her attitude, her stature, and the fact that she stepped out of Earnest Sewn to pick herself up a pickle on a hot summer day. Two style notes- she added a custom studded strap to her vintage booties, and love the idea of the bike shorts underneath the jean shorts to make sure your ass doesn’t hang out if you’ve got some spare, not that this was her problem. Spare shouldn’t be a problem for anyone actually.
